What personal data is processed and by whom

If you are buying a vehicle using ‘Buy it Now’, our payment providers will collect information to enable the payment to be processed: Letchworth Motor Auctions never see personal data about your payment. However, to comply with UK law we will need to record proof of identity and proof of address, using documents such as your current Driver’s Licence, Passport or Utility Bill.

Other 3rd parties may need to process your information to set up and manage the contract or to comply with legal obligations, such as reporting to government agencies, and in the legitimate interests of the Company, eg to satisfy queries from authorised parties and for investigative purposes.

Data Retention

We will keep your personal data until we are fully satisfied the service has been provided, or sale/purchase contract has been concluded successfully and any queries have been resolved. Personal data will be deleted by us when it is no longer necessary to hold it for the original purpose it was collected, typically 2 months. Certain data has to be kept longer by law, e.g. financial records have a retention period of 7 years. Some 3rd parties may have a legal obligation to store personal data for longer than 2 months, but will not retain it for longer than necessary.

Individuals’ rights
